The Belt and Road Initiative has seen Chinese State Owned Enterprises thrive overseas. What is less commented is that it has been equally accompanied by a significant demand for Chinese executives to learn how to communicate with their new international stakeholders.

Now exporting to over 100 countries, CRRC has noted the keen need for upskilling its’ mid-level management to improve communications with companies throughout their increasingly expanding and global supply chain.

To support a cohort of over 100 executives develop the core communication skillset for managing their international teams and stakeholders, Outlander delivered a 15-workshop series covering key themes including:

  • Defining what is meant by ‘a global colleague’
  • Knowing your character strengths
  • Recognising strengths in others
  • Empathic listening
  • Eliminating miscommunication

The workshops involved a range of activities and scenarios to help participants better understand their own strengths, and enhance their ability at communicating across different character styles. Learning was reinforced through numerous role plays and discussions which saw the metaphorically group fly across all 6 continents of the world.
