Academic courses
On-the-ground support from
locally based China team
AN INTRODUCTION
Our academic courses are built around a specific theme that integrates into a wider programme syllabus. Courses may be credit bearing or optional, as per the requirements of your institution, and are geared towards one of three formats of delivery:
Full semester course
Full semester courses involve Outlander Consulting introducing faculty for delivery or a credit bearing course, typically delivered at a partner institution in China. Specific scheduling will be agreed between the approved faculty and university Programme Manager. Content will be tailored according to a provided syllabus.
Course example
Institution: Asia Europe Business School (China)
Programme: Master in International Business
Course: Corporate Governance in China
Duration: 32 classroom hours
Short-term China residential
One to two week residential programmes involve Outlander Consulting designing an immersive China experience that includes industry visits, guest speakers and academic reflective study to provide students with an unforgettable China experience. Content is tailored towards a theme of study relevant to a wider credit bearing programme.
Course example
Institution: Top 5 ranked institution (United States)
Programme: E-MBA in Supply Chain
Course: China residential
Duration: 10 days
Summer school
China summer schools (not exclusive to summer) can range from 5 to 30 days. They are designed to provide students with an engaging introduction to China and cover a range of stimulating topics. Courses may involve students stemming from more than one educational institution.
Course example
Institution: The University of Sydney (Australia)
Programme: Miscellaneous programmes
Course: Future of Business Innovation Study Tour in China

ACADEMIC QUALITY
Outlander Consulting’s founding team includes partners with familiarity in university accreditations and Dean-level experience at a leading international business school. We therefore understand the importance of academic quality and oversight in educational programmes.
When managing academic courses, Outlander Consulting only introduces experienced faculty with a proven record for delivering at world-renowned institutions. Full disclosure is provided in advance of a programme and your institution has final say as to which faculty are selected on the programme. Syllabuses, including specific learning objectives, activities and assignments, and core readings are also agreed in advance of programme delivery.
We actively encourage our partner university’s Programme Director to meet in person or electronically each faculty member before delivery in order to provide non-diluted introductions to student background and the wider programme context, as well as to gain a greater confidence towards the quality of the final programme.
Industry visits, guest speakers and other out-of-class activities can add tremendous value to a students’ learning experience. As with our process for broader academic courses, all activities are organised in order to achieve pre-determined learning objectives. The role of Academic Director (provided by us or you) is highly important in helping students to draw direct linkages between organised activities and in-class learning, thus creating the most engaging and applied learning experience.
